The Pillowman - September 28 - October 20, 2007
By Martin McDonagh
Get ready for an edgy and enthralling evening. Blending black comedy and mystery until“whodunit” is the least of your concerns, The Pillowman tells the gripping tale of a writer whose dark fables seem to be coming to life. The Pillowman explores family secrets, censorship and the irrepressible power of storytelling. “…(a) spellbinding stunner of a play… appallingly funny, endlessly quotable, delicious and wondrous… [it] is, above all, about the thrilling narrative potential of theater itself.” —Ben Brantley, The New York Times.

I Am My Own Wife - November 2 - November 24, 2007
By Doug Wright
Winner of the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, I Am My Own Wife spins the spellbinding tale of Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, a German transvestite who survived the horrors and upheavals of mid-20th century Europe through a combination of cunning intelligence, primal instinct and amazingly good fortune. Although it is non-fiction, the story is spun like an action-adventure drama, with an eccentric historical figure as the hero. The New Yorker described I Am My Own Wife as “Brilliant!” The Wall Street Journal proclaimed that “This play deserves every prize there is.” And Newsday called it “A rich, riveting and thrilling mystery.”

Memory House - January 11 - February 2, 2008
By Kathleen Tolan
This engaging comic-drama by prize-winning playwright Kathleen Tolan will delight, move and inspire you as it explores an utterly recognizable mother-daughter relationship and examines the global ties that bind family to homeland to family. It’s 9 p.m. and eighteen year-old Katia’s college application must be in the mail by midnight. Maggie, Katia’s adoptive mother presses her daughter to complete the essay question, ‘What’s in your Memory House?’ while mom bakes - on stage, from start to finish - a home-made blueberry pie. “A captivating emotional ballet that is also a moving demonstration of the strenuous work that goes into good mothering.” - The New York Times

The Busy World Is Hushed - March 14 - April 6, 2008
By Keith Bunin
With wisdom, humor and insight, The Busy World Is Hushed examines the contradictions we find in our faith, our families and ourselves. Hannah, a widowed Episcopal minister, is hoping to translate a long-lost gospel when she is challenged by both her scholarly assistant and her wayward gay son. But when family secrets are revealed, only the intercession of a stranger can help Hannah find peace. Variety calls The Busy World is Hushed “dramatically and emotionally absorbing.”

Or Not To Be - May 9 - June 1, 2008
Adapted by John Schmor
Adapted freely, Shakespeare’s Hamlet is re-imagined via the conventions of the Zombie movie. Like Hollywood’s cultish B-movie genre, Shakespeare’s tragedy feeds from cultural paranoia about collapse of order and hellish retributions - and both focus this paranoia with the ever-popular melodrama of “teen anxiety.” Or Not To Be ’s mix of “low” and “high” sources renders the poetry and philosophy of Shakespeare’s most quoted and revered play into something surprising and new again. By taking a bite out of Bardolotry, we aim to bring Hamlet to life as a new entertainment for audiences ready for something different. Or Not To Be is Lord Leebrick’s first joint production with the University of Oregon’s Department of Theatre Arts.
